§ 50-45. Unlawful removal of official documents or papers.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any officer or employee of the city, or the police department of the city, knowingly to remove from the premises where they are normally kept, any official documents, reports, letters or other printed or written matter either in their original form or any copy thereof, kept in the regular course of business, without authorization from his superior.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any officer or employee of the city, or the police department of the city, knowingly to have in his possession outside the premises where they are normally kept, any official documents, reports, letters or other printed or written matter either in their original form or any copy thereof, kept in the regular course of business, without authorization from his superior.

    (c)

    Any person convicted for violating either subsection (a) or subsection (b) of this section shall be guilty of an ordinance violation, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not less than $1.00 and not more than $500.00, or be punished by imprisonment in the municipal correctional institution for a period not to exceed six months, or be punished by both fine and imprisonment.
