§ 22-2. Release of mortgages on property taken.

  • A release of all mortgages, if any exist, against any property taken in any condemnation proceeding, for which damages have been awarded, must be placed on record in the office of the recorder of deeds or the office of records, according to law, before any offsets or credits can be allowed against any unpaid benefit assessments charged against any property in the verdict belonging to the owner of any property taken or damaged in the proceedings.
