§ 56-504. Penalty for violation of article; assessment of additional court costs.

  • (a)

    Any person who fails to file a registration statement, amendment or other statement required by this code or who violates the provisions of section 56-500 or 56-503 shall be subject, upon conviction, to a penalty consisting of a fine of not less than $100.00 but not more than $1,000.00, and may, in addition to such fine, be punished by imprisonment of not more than 180 days. All fines imposed shall be in accordance with the minimum fine schedule set out in subsection (c) of this section.

    (b)

    Whenever any person shall be found guilty of a violation under this section in a proceeding instituted in the municipal division of the Jackson County circuit court, the court shall assess therein as additional costs a sum of $12.00, to be assessed in addition to service costs, witness fees and jail costs otherwise authorized to be assessed.

    (c)

    Whenever the penalty is to be a fine or a fine and imprisonment, the fine shall be no less than the minimum amount set out in the following schedule:

    (1) First offense Not less than $100.00 but not more than $1,000.00
    (2) Second offense Not less than $200.00 but not more than $1,000.00
    (3) Third offense Not less than $300.00 but not more than $1,000.00
    (4) Fourth offense Not less than $400.00 but not more than $1,000.00
    (5) Fifth and subsequent offenses Not less than $500.00 but not more than $1,000.00
