§ 2-263. Division of environmental health.
The individual in charge of the division shall from time to time recommend and superintend the inspection of every part of the city and its environs with a view of maintaining sanitary conditions. He shall inspect dairies, milk, beverages, meat, all solid or liquid foods kept and offered for sale to the public, and all water supplies, and shall enforce the pure food laws and ordinances. He shall inspect all commodities, articles and things intended for human consumption and the production, storage and sale thereof, including the sanitary condition and cleanliness of all places and premises wherein such things are produced, used, kept or offered for sale and including the healthfulness, cleanliness and sanitation of all methods, practices, persons and things relating thereto, and shall have charge of the administration of all ordinances relating thereto; and he may, in a manner provided by ordinance, condemn all such commodities found unfit for human use or consumption and direct the disposition thereof. He shall be in charge of all industrial hygiene activities undertaken by the city. Under the direct supervision of the director of health he shall have charge of the administration and enforcement of all ordinances relating to air pollution, smoke control and smoke abatement activities undertaken by the city.
