§ 62-186. Duties of the department.

The department is authorized to:
(1)

Encourage the establishment of waste tire collection centers at tire dealers and waste tire processing facilities; and

(2)

Investigate, locate and document existing sites where tires have been or currently are being accumulated, and initiate efforts to bring these sites into compliance with rules and regulations promulgated pursuant to the provisions of this article.

(3)

Assist neighborhood organizations and community groups in the application process for waste tire grants, facilitate public service education with regard to waste tires and the illegal dumping of waste tires and coordinate education concerning waste tires with the city police department and city departments.
