§ 34-18. Medical examination of schoolchildren.
(a)
Required. All school boards and boards of education and superintendents of schools in the city, and managers, proprietors and principals of all public schools and of private and denominational primary schools, shall cause to be made by a competent physician a medical examination and inspection of all pupils attending any school in the city, under the supervision and direction of the health department of the city, and such medical examination or inspection shall be made at the commencement of each session or term of such school, and as often thereafter as may be required by the health department of the city.
(b)
Duty to comply. It shall be the duty of all school boards and boards of education and superintendents of schools in the city, and managers, proprietors and principals of all public and of all private and denominational primary schools, to cause the inspection required by this section to be made.
(c)
Enforcement. It shall be the duty of the health department to see that the provisions of this section are carried out, and that the inspections required in this section are made.
