§ 2-1931. "General trafficways" defined.

  • For the purpose of the selection, acquisition or establishment of general trafficways by the trafficways commission, the term "general trafficway" is defined to mean those streets and highways which are not limited to passenger vehicle use only and which are adapted to the safe, convenient and facile transportation of vehicles for the purposes of meeting the immediate or anticipated needs and requirements of the city for general traffic arteries and of carrying vehicles in larger number or in heavier service than is ordinarily required in serving the average traffic needs of the property abutting thereon, together with those streets and highways used by common carrier buses operating under a franchise granted by the city for the local transportation of passengers for hire; provided, however, that in each case such general trafficways shall be selected, acquired or established by the trafficways commission and approved by the council.
