The review committee shall make awards as follows:

    (1)

Monetary awards. The review committee shall award a sum of ten percent of the projected annual tangible financial benefit to the city, net of implementation costs amortized for over a period of the projected life of the suggestion. All awards shall be considered a one-time addition of employee's compensation and subject to all compensation regulations except that they shall not be considered in calculating pension deductions.

    a.

Any award made by the review committee shall not exceed $10,000.00 for any one individual, even if said individual is included in a group award, or $25,000.00 for any one group of employees for each suggestion approved by the steering committee. Monetary awards made for a suggestion submitted as outlined in subsection 2-979(b) shall be divided equally amongst all named on the joint suggestion.

    b.

One-half of the award will be granted at the time of approval.

    c.

The remainder of the award will be granted six months after the date of approval by the employee suggestion review committee. The amount may only be revised upward if the city manager's office determines that the projection determined as outlined in subsection 2-980(a) is underestimated.

    (2)

Nonmonetary awards. The review committee shall grant nonmonetary awards to employees who make suggestions that are approved by the review committee that result in any intangible benefit to the city, including but not limited to increased citizen satisfaction or service, increased employee productivity, increased safety, and/or increased employee morale, but do not result in a tangible financial benefit to the city.
