§ 2-976. Acting officers.

  • Whenever any administrative officer or the head of any administrative department or division thereof, other than the city manager, is for any reason unable to attend to the performance of or cannot personally perform all of his official duties, it shall be his duty to designate one or more officers or employees under his supervision, any of whom may perform the ministerial duties of such office during such time as the absence or disability of the officer shall continue. When any person so designated to perform the duties of an officer who is absent or unable to perform all of his duties, as provided in this section, is required to sign any official document pertaining to such office, it shall be signed in the officer's name by the designated individual; however, nothing in this section shall be taken to prohibit the use of signature stamps on routine administrative forms and copies, or to prohibit the affixing of the signature of the director of finance to city warrants by mechanical check-signing equipment.
