§ 2-701. Powers and duties of director.

  • (a)

    Generally, the director of the information technology department shall be responsible for the management and operation of electronic and computer operations and coordination of such operations within city hall including, but not limited to, all local networks and wide-area networks, computer operations, system software and legacy system maintenance and telephones and radios. The director shall have the authority to appoint such assistants and other employees as may be necessary to perform the functions of the department.

    (b)

    The director shall have the power to prescribe and enforce rules and regulations, not inconsistent with the charter, for the conduct of the employees of the department, and to prescribe and enforce such rules and regulations as such director may deem proper for the efficient management and operation of the facilities within the control of the department, for the distribution and performance of business of such department, and custody and preservation of the books, records, papers and property of such department under the supervision and control of the director.
