§ 2-603. Management advisory authority established.
The mayor is authorized to appoint the management advisory authority with the following membership, with the following initial terms:
(1)
The city manager, or his or her designee (one year);
(2)
A member of the city council (one year);
(3)
Two employees of the convention and entertainment facilities department (one year);
(4)
A representative of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Kansas City, Inc. (two years);
(5)
A representative of the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission (two years);
(6)
A property manager (three years);
(7)
An event planner or user of the convention and entertainment facilities (three years);
(8)
A hotelier or representative of the hospitality industry (three years).
At the end of the initial terms, all members will be appointed for three-year terms. The mayor will annually appoint the chairperson of the authority. The authority has the power to adopt rules governing its own procedures and fixing the time and place of its meetings. The members of the authority serve without compensation. The director will serve as an ex-officio member of the authority. All members must be residents of the city. The members who are department employees will be given time from their normal duties to attend the meetings of the authority.
