§ 2-521. Divisions; duties of director.

  • The neighborhoods and housing services department shall consist of the following divisions: administration; neighborhood services; neighborhood preservation and community development; and any other divisions as may be established by ordinance. The work and responsibilities of the department shall be under the control and supervision of the director of neighborhoods and housing services who shall supervise the various divisions of the department in the performance of their functions and coordinate their activities and, when so instructed by the city manager, shall render such other related services as may from time to time be requested by the city manager or authorized by the city council. The director shall have all the powers as authorized by the Charter and ordinances including the power to prescribe and enforce rules and regulations, not inconsistent with the Charter, for the conduct of the employees of the department, and for the efficient management and operation of the department. The director shall have the authority to appoint such assistants and other employees as may be necessary to perform the functions of the department. Any references in the City Charter or ordinances to the housing and community development department or the neighborhood and community services department shall be construed to refer to and mean the neighborhoods and housing services department.
