§ 2-1280. Previous pension plan.

  • (a)

    Effective with checks to be dated August 1, 1989, the pension system established in this division shall become the paying agent for the old firefighters' pension plan, which is the plan for members retired before July 1, 1953, or their beneficiaries.

    (b)

    These persons shall not be entitled to any other pension benefits established by this division, minimum amounts or annual cost-of-living adjustment.

    (c)

    Payments to them dated August 1, 1989, and thereafter shall be $100.00 per month for retired firefighters and $50.00 per month for widows, to continue until their death.

    (d)

    If contributions by the city to the old firefighters' pension plan and the earnings from the accumulated reserve in such fund, combined, are not sufficient to pay the pensions of retired members and spouses, the board shall promptly advise the council for such action as it may deem necessary.
