§ 2-47. Taking of oath by mayor.
(a)
Generally. The mayor shall take the oath of office, to be administered by the director of records or other officer authorized to administer oaths, in the presence of the council and so many citizens as may desire to be present, on April 10 following his election. If April 10 falls on Sunday, then the oath of office shall be administered on April 11.
(b)
Vacancy in mayor's office. If the mayor has been elected to fill a vacancy in the mayor's office, he shall take the oath of office as soon as practicable after his election, but before entering upon his duties as mayor.
