§ 1-14. Recording and publishing ordinances.

  • The director of records shall forthwith file in his office all original ordinances and all resolutions which have become laws and shall record the ordinances and resolutions in well-bound books provided for that purpose by the city; provided that no ordinance shall be recorded until it shall have become a law. He shall also make a written index of the subject of each ordinance and resolution, and its number and date of becoming a law, together with the record and page where found, and shall preserve the index in his office. He shall also have all ordinances, when the respective ordinance so directs, or when required by law, and in no other case, published in the newspaper doing the city printing for the number of times specified by the council at the time the ordinance is passed or as may be required by law. Such publication shall be directly after such ordinances become laws.
