§ 14-47. Identification of guard dogs; restraint of guard dogs in transit.

  • (a)

    In addition to all other requirements of this chapter, each sentry or guard dog as defined at section 14-29(c) shall, at all times while being used as a sentry or guard dog, wear a collar bearing a bright red two-inch-diameter disc to warn the public. The supervisor of animal health and public safety shall sell such discs for the amount specified in section 14-52 each, or the owner or keeper of each such dog may supply and use a disc of similar appearance subject to such disc being determined to be similar in appearance and durability by the supervisor of animal health and public safety.

    (b)

    Sentry or guard dogs as defined at section 14-29(c) shall be effectively restrained to prevent escape when in transit and while being loaded and unloaded at the premises guarded.

    (c)

    Failure to comply with either subsection (a) or subsection (b) of this section is a violation of this chapter.
