§ 10-61. Membership; officers; organization.

  • The liquor control board of review shall consist of six taxpaying residents of the city, appointed by the mayor, who shall be designated as regular members, and two taxpaying residents of the city, appointed by the mayor, who shall be designated as alternate members. Three of the regular members shall be at large, not less than two of which shall be attorneys licensed to practice law in the state. One regular member and one alternate member shall be liquor industry representatives. Two regular members and one alternate member shall be neighborhood representatives. The regular and alternate members of the board shall serve for a period of four years, however, all members shall continue in office until their respective successors shall have been appointed. They may thereafter be reappointed at the pleasure and discretion of the mayor. Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term of any regular or alternate member whose seat shall be vacant. All regular and alternate members shall be removable for cause by the mayor upon written charges and after public hearing. The board shall elect its own chairman and vice-chairman, who shall serve for one year. The board may adopt, from time to time, those rules and regulations as it may deem necessary to effectuate its purpose. Each regular or alternate member of the board shall receive compensation at the rate of $25.00 per day or part of a day actually engaged in discharging the duties of the board, the compensation to be paid from the general fund.
